Title
inTouch Pilot Project Program answers Manufacturer’s Product
Evaluation Question
Client
E Ink Corporation
sells and develops an electronic display that replicates the
experience of reading printed ink on paper. E Ink has won
many prestigious awards and accolades such as Fortune's "Cool
Companies," Upside's "Hot 100" Private Companies, and Industry
Week's "Technology of the Year."
Problem
The client wanted to gauge the market response to a remote control
for their customizable electronic signs.
Solution
inTouch developed a working prototype on the Palm PDA for field
evaluation as a pilot project to meet the client’s limited
budget.
Benefits
With a prototype in field trials, the client was able to understand
how customers used the product and which features were perceived
as the most valuable. The client collected actual user feedback
and tested different price points. The resulting feedback from real
use was more concrete and powerful than surveys or mock-ups.
Details
inTouch created a specification for a working version of the sign
controller and a fixed price proposal structured under inTouch’s
pilot project program. The project was completed on-schedule and
within budget. The application was successfully deployed on Palm
PDA’s in field trials to collect use patterns and user feedback
and to evaluate market opportunity and positioning. The software
was built in C for PalmOS.
